Soundsystem culture has its origins in the early Jamaican Sound System operations, with legends like King Tubby, Bunny Lee, Scientist or the great Lee Scratch Perry, paving the way for how, I dare to claim, we produce, remix, reversion and appreciate in many ways the higher art of todays sound making. Engineers, producers, open minded studio, and high-fidelity fanatics, merging their production skills with Sound System operations. one informing the other.

But Sound System culture is more than just setting up a Sound System, with custom made speaker cabinets, mixers, effect gear like echo, reverb, flangers or stereo panning systems, built by the crews themselves to match the highest standards of sound processing for the beloved attenders of a sound system event: It is also how a community is built. When we relate to sound, we come together. We interact, we dance, we exchange ideas, creating inspirations. We share the love for music and the human condition. The bond with our tribe, creates empathy and builds the modern family that believes in positivity and an uplifting fearless mindset.

This is what Alex Rutz aka Brudda Roots represents, and he & his crew accomplishes. Excited that he will be my next guest on DUBLAB RADIO.

He is a Swedish-born reggae artist and co-owner of the South Bay Dub Club. With a deep passion for reggae music, Alex has become a respected figure in the community, both for his performances and his contributions to promoting reggae culture in Southern California. Alex has helped cultivate a vibrant reggae scene, providing a platform for both local and international artists to showcase their talents. His dedication to reggae music extends beyond performance to fostering a community that appreciates and celebrates the genre. Aside that Brudda Roots and his Shining Armor Band gained a reputation for delivering heartfelt performances that seamlessly merge romantic melodies with classic reggae rhythms, creating an engaging and nostalgic musical experience.

About all the above, we want to have a conversation: How to build a community in the 21st century? How to deal with producing music and get recognition in the digital streaming market of today?

All this embedded in the best of dub & reggae music, we can provide. Of course, and always…on strictly vinyl!
