The Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, home of the Surf Fair in 1962/1963, The T.A.M.I. Show in 1964, lots of Bruce Brown, John Severson, Greg MacGillivray/Jim Freeman and other surf film-maker screenings during the late ’50s through to the early ’70s (including The Endless Summer in ’65 and Five Summer Stories in ’72) and of course… The Academy Awards back in those days too. David Bowie & the Spiders from Mars’ Ziggy Stardust tour through America came here in ’72 (live LP of that show exists), as did The Clash w/ Bo Diddley in ’79… lots between all that, of course.
