alternate realities _black cyberculture is a mini series zooming in and out of the vast frontiers of web 0-3. Through conversation and music, the interview series features black alternative media artists who are pushing the boundaries of the metaverse to examine how the turbulent expansion of cyberspace might influence, shape and impact black creative and digital communities U/IRL.

Kola is a writer and artist who experiments with how people create virtual spaces. His work can be found in Reckoning, Logic, Strange Horizons, and others.

JAZSALYN is an artist and technologist whose work begins where fiction and reality collide. Through alternative and computer-based media, she extends the practice of re-indigenization as a ritual to summon and recall ancestral intelligence

black beyond is a platform for experimental artists and activists to define alternate realities for Blackness. black beyond subverts space, allowing Black people and co-liberators to decolonize and re-indigenize social infrastructures. It interrogates understandings of Blackness outside the limitations imposed by the racist imaginary, through afro-pessimism, afro-nowism, and afro-futurism.

black beyond silences echo chambers and uplifts voices of the unheard. Allowing progressive topics which pertain to the ‘future’ to escape institutional corridors, becoming more accessible to the communities we intend to serve.
