This month we have a live performance of rag Darbari and Kirwani by the legendary Pandit Ravi Shankar, recorded in 1959. Pt. Ravi Shankar was the first sitarist to reach an international audience and he achieved what no other sitarist ever had. He brought Indian Classical to the West. He is known by many for his work with the Beatles which fused Indian Classical with Western pop music. His legacy is carried on by his many students, as well as his daughters, Norah Jones and Anoushka Shankar.
