Today we’ll share an archival recording from Metabolic Sonics. Anabolic Orchestra was a social practice exercise during the summer of 2019 at Metabolic Studio. Sonic Division made all the instruments in the Anabolic Orchestra, fabricating 90 gongs and chimes ranging from 8” – 30” in diameter. The public was invited to the studio to perform every week. The approach to the music was inspired by the ancient tradition of the gong and chime orchestras in Southeast Asia.
