A lifelong pianist and classically trained musician, James Axon spent years in orchestras, jazz bands, and contemporary music ensembles before falling in love with the sounds of modern dance and electronic music. Today, he draws upon his musicality and eclectic taste as a DJ that espouses an expansive vision of dance music, often mixing seamlessly between house, italo, electro, techno, disco, breakbeat, IDM, and indie dance. Together with Sergio Rodriguez, Axon runs a bi-monthly club night at Akbar in Silver Lake called “Planet Love.” 

James Axon’s latest mix for dublab is a two-hour journey traversing a wide range of lush, colorful sounds through contemporary rave music.
