Escuchar al Istmo
06.09.24

Between South and North America, the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, exists an isthmus made up of seven countries, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Belize, also known as Central America. Escuchar al Istmo, Listen to the Isthmus, focuses on the diverse musical and cultural landscape of Central America. Through music, vinyl record collections and special guests, the show explores cultural context, nostalgia and experiences of the diaspora. Tune in to hear the past and present sounds of the many cultures of Central America.
Joining me for the month of June is Discos Fuego sharing a killer set of Boogaloo / Afro Latin Funk records from El Salvador. Discos Fuego is from Santa Ana, El Salvador. He is fascinated by the sound of unknown 60’s and 70’s music especially from Central America. Since 2011, while being on the road and on trips back home, he’s continued to look for old dusty forgotten records.
