On Saturday, September 28, 2024, dublab celebrated its quarter centennial at Zebulon. Taking over the beloved Frogtown venue with 25 DJs, a host of live performances, and engaging visual artwork by Alex Pelly, offering a multistage event that showcased the station’s homegrown talent. dublab’s annual anniversary parties also serve as crucial fundraising opportunities, and this year was no exception. Karim aka Wadood is a musician and designer from Cairo, Egypt. Currently based in LA, he spends time listening to and playing music, reading and growing cannabis. His interests include architectural heritage, archival items + artefacts, anime, cats and futbol. He hopes to explore musical traditions to better understand identity and use music as a vehicle for collective expression and community building.

Mara (they/them) aka Bitchimawitchh is a queer artist and community organizer born and raised in Miami & currently based in Los Angeles. They focus on healing justice for survivors, popular education for tenants, pleasure activism, ancestral circular economies, and mutual aid efforts beyond borders. Mara believes that embodied art practices guide people towards unlocking their own power, fueling collective dreaming and pushing us towards freedom. In their freetime, they celebrate poetry by hosting art therapy circles and gardens.

Los Angeles-based artist Maral has formed a unique vision of club music, one that embraces her heritage and recontextualizes it for a new audience. Focusing on the interplay between sounds and culture she combines Iranian folk field recordings with raw distorted beats, hoping it will introduce listeners to new ways of perceiving music. Taking the old and making it new. As a DJ, she enjoys exploring music from around the world and showcasing the hidden gems from the past and present. Through her music and involvement in the scene, Maral seeks to both educate and have a positive impact on others.
