dublab's 25th Anniversary: Live from Zebulon

On Saturday, September 28, 2024, dublab celebrated its quarter centennial at Zebulon. Taking over the beloved Frogtown venue with 25 DJs, a host of live performances, and engaging visual artwork by Alex Pelly, offering a multistage event that showcased the station’s homegrown talent. dublab’s annual anniversary parties also serve as crucial fundraising opportunities, and this year was no exception. Alejandro Cohen is a musician and composer from Los Angeles, California, and the executive director of DUBLAB. Over the last two decades, Cohen has released music under numerous projects and groups including Languis and Pharaohs. He’s composed music for TV shows, documentaries and educational materials, and recorded more than two hundred solo artists and bands as a sound engineer and consultant for dublab, KPFK 90.7 FM, Sony/Columbia and the Society for the Activation of Social Space Through Art and Sound (SASSAS). As dublab’s Executive Director, Cohen curates the station’s programming and podcast offerings, fundraises for the organization and curates the annual ambient music event Tonalism.

Yuki Tamai is a producer who works with art, music, and a wide range of other cultural projects. The projects run a diverse range from solutions for corporate issues to projects for government agencies, and in recent years he is also cooperating with planning in local business fields. Previously he has worked as a producer of international art festivals including the Japan version of TodaysArt, an art festival that started in Den Haag in The Netherlands, and as an artist-in-residence. He is presently CEO of epigram inc., which plans a wide range of cross-disciplinary projects, while also serving as director of dublab.jp, the Japan branch of Los Angeles-based Internet radio dublab, as well as co-founder of Studio the Future Japan LLC, which conducts cultural projects connecting Japan and Amsterdam.
