An eclectic blend of cinematic masterpieces with a daring flair, “Forgotten Reels” will explore the colorful world of saucy film soundtracks from the near and far East. Highlighting local traditions and culture, this set features scores of Japanese, Chinese and Indian cinema from the 1950’s all the way up to the 21st century. a variety of film music performed on instruments old and new, indigenous and imported, everywhere from the deep forests of Japan, to the big screens of old Bollywood. This living musical heritage is a journey of thousands of years of trade and exchange among the traditions and peoples of the Silk Road.
