When Collie Ryan came into the KPFK studios for our “Future Roots Radio” program we felt the warm Texas wind whirl in with her. She brought a guitar and her brilliantly painted mandala hubcaps and sang songs that swept us up like a desert wind. After releasing a handful of privately pressed albums in highly limited quantities in the 1970’s, Collie drifted away from west coast life and and dedicated her time to painting and living under the wide west Texas sky. The dedicated music lovers at Yoga Records have helped her rise from obscurity by reissuing her albums for the wider world to enjoy. We were honored to host Collie for this radio session, her first ever live performance in Los Angeles. We hope you enjoy these gems from a brilliant artist whose voice we hope to hear a lot more of in the days to come.
