Atlas is a monthly show hosted by Barbarelle in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Connecting different parts of the world with obscure tracks, Barbarelle takes us through a deep and evolving sonic landscape. From Ambient, Experimental and Jazz, to Latin, African and Middle East sounds, this imaginary musical journey evoques the -both subtle and deep- connection between worlds, existent and imaginary.

This episode features Barbarelle in conversation with Vinocio, the vibrant Buenos Aires jazz group.

“Every scene needs its guerrilla artists, those who move around everywhere, flying under the radar to be detected only by those who will truly appreciate and value them. The case of Vinocio is nothing new, undoubtedly, they are the revelation of these last few strange and ever-changing years…”
—Iñaki Durán

Always staying true to their ideals, the duo and their friends gave their first performances in outdoor venues with free entry, thanks to the incorporation of a live band. These shows took place in Plaza Haití (Buenos Aires), next to the neighborhood skatepark, which generated a great movement of people not only from the skateboarding community (from which Vinocio has its roots) but also from graffiti enthusiasts and art lovers in general.

Vinocio gained a lot of visibility and a very loyal audience thanks to these shows, taking their performances from the plaza to jazz clubs and well-known Buenos Aires venues (Niceto Club, Vorterix, etc.).

The group is characterized by its versatility (being able to adapt their show to any situation), by their “jazzy” aesthetic of improvisation in their songs, and by the various formats for their performances (trio, quartet, quintet, sextet, septet).

During 2024, the project gained international attention as they were invited to share the stage with musician Kamaal Williams at Niceto Club in one of the year’s standout events. They released their first vinyl record produced by Felipe Gordon under the Dutch label Clone Records, and today they are in Buenos Aires after completing their first sold-out European tour.

The goal for Vinocio has always been and will always be music, approached from a simple and genuine place, shared among friends.
