“Twice a year, the non-profit internet radio collective dublab holds a fundraising drive to help cover its operational costs. Fifty percent of its funding comes from listeners. Mark “Frosty” McNeill, one of the co-founders and heads of dublab, is a tireless advocate and cultural curator, and as one of the first people I met after moving to Los Angeles, he’s fundamentally helped shape my time in this city over the last several years. So as both a participant in dublab activities as well as an avid fan of what they do, I try to do my part to contribute: by DJing during the drive, spreading the word, giving a donation.

This year I tried something new, too — I posted on our Facebook page that if anyone donated $500 to dublab, they could choose a song for The One AM Radio to cover. It was a shot in the dark, but someone stepped up! They got their employer to do a matching gift, and chose “A Rush and a Push and the Land Is Ours” by the Smiths.
