Releasing an incredible amount of incredible music between 1988 and 2001, there really was no other band like the Royal Trux, and we’re honored to present a wide-ranging interview on dublab with Jennifer Herrema of Royal Trux and RTX fame (she’s currently with Black Bananas). Neil Hagerty (currently of the Howling Hex) and Jennifer Herrema will reunite as the Royal Trux for Berserktown II on August 16 at the Observatory in Santa Ana, so now seems perfect to present a show covering the band’s sizable output.
For this special 2-hour show, Jennifer guides the audience through the Trux’s catalog album by album, detailing the the ways in which the band approached each piece of work. She’ll touch on the many recording environments that the Trux existed in (some guy in Maryland’s garage, Joe Walsh’s studio), lyrical influences, and what it’s like to whittle a band’s entire catalog into a set list. This show’s as good of an introduction as any to anyone unfamiliar with the band, and will prove rewarding for long-time fans.
