“This special mix is from October 19, 2011 at Amoeba Music as part of their Mandala DJ series held on Wednesdays. They occasionally have guest DJs, but the night thrives on the vast knowledge of Amoeba employees sharing their home collections with shoppers. It is always my goal to share as many different sounds in one set as possible with listeners, but without a doubt, this is one of the most diverse sets I have ever put together. Beginning with traditional feast day music from Tzotziles natives of Chiapas to Unwound to a continuous flow of all sorts of jazz, soundtracks, pop, electronics, latin, reggae dub, and folk, it was a joy to receive positive feedback from employees and shoppers alike. The best comment came from an enthusiastic cashier clerk that left his post to say, “Man, I’ve heard some crazy sets here before, but you really went all over the place. Nice!” Thanks to that gentleman, as well as Gomez Comes Alive and Daniel T., for allowing me to go all over the place with sounds I so dearly love. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.” love, Hoseh
