Celebrating the 10th anniversary of this classic Karaoke Kalk release, “The Prepared Piano” was, and still is, a wonderful collection of compositions by Volker Bertelmann. Looking at this, and the moment it was released says a lot both about the label and the musician: clearly influenced by electronic music, is more the timing and tone of the instruments that can be heard as an influence in Hauschka’s music. He walks that delicate line, and has that unusual understanding of classical, electronic, avant garde, minimalism and plain rock music that defines his style in his own way.
