The visionary Los Angeles institution The Hammer Museum has launched Made in L.A., its first ever large scale biennial. In collaboration with LAXART they are surveying the work of 60 local artists with exhibitions at three locations across the city: the Hammer Museum in Westwood, LAXART in the Culver City art district, and the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery at Barnsdall Park in Los Feliz. This celebration of the highly productive LA art community is an overview of some of the most exciting work being made in the world today.

To accompany this groundbreaking biennial the Hammer created the Made in L.A. Soundmap App. This mobile audio companion allows you to explore the expansive community which has so greatly influenced the work of the artists featured in the exhibition. Using geo-location the Soundmap App triggers excerpts from interviews with Made in L.A. artists and curators as you come across points of inspiration. To keep your ears perked up between map points dublab has curated a three hour accompanying soundtrack of songs from Los Angeles based musicians.
