Heather McIntosh will play a set of ambient cello. McIntosh started her musical career playing cello with the bands of The Elephant 6 Collective and bass with Gnarls Barkley and Lil Wayne. She was one of four women who made the Academy Awards shortlist of composers for Best Original Score in 2013 for her score to Craig Zobel’s “Compliance,” and again in 2015 with Craig’s film, “Z for Zachariah”. She recently scored Pat Healy’s Take Me (starring Pat Healy and Taylor Schilling) and Brian Shoaf’s Aardvark (starring Zachary Quinto, Jenny Slate and Jon Hamm) which both premiered at the 2017 TriBeCa Film Festival. Heather is an alumna of The Sundance Institute Music & Sound Design Labs at Skywalker Sound, a 2014 Sundance Institute Time Warner Foundation Fellow, and a member of the Academy class of 2016.
In LFZ, Sean Smith manipulates guitar and synthesizers with a vast array of analog and digital devices. The music is emotionally driven and rides the line between composition and improvisation. There is a deep experimentalism captured in the music of LFZ -all executed by tangible means. LFZ is exploratory of sights, sounds and the phenomenological. Since 2015, LFZ has released a self titled album, a collection of meditative synthesizer improvisations, “Pointless Prism,” and three volumes in the “Sketches of Jupiter” series. Smith also owns and manages the Stimulus Progression record label.
