    Archive is a radio show on dublab hosted by Liam O’Mahony. It will attempt to create a record of electronic music culture through conversations with DJ’s, promoters, journalists, and producers. Archive is a celebration of the rich history of electronic and dance music and the people that push its culture forward.

    On this episode, Liam will be sitting down with Luke Kim, the promoter behind the Directory series of parties. Directory has quickly grown to become one of the most prominent events in the city’s burgeoning underground scene, offering a home for a new generation of partygoers and a platform for an exciting wave of talent currently bubbling up. Luke and Liam will discuss Directory’s origins, the difficulties of maintaining a safe space in a city that pushes parties to the margins, and Luke’s own journey as a promoter and DJ.

    Oh No It’s Monday focuses on up and coming music coming from different areas of the world. The show also brings attention on what bands to watch that happen to live in our own backyard in Los Angeles. Sometimes they have special guest musicians whom are on tour and happen to be in town. Monday’s don’t have to be terrible tune in grab a morning drink and discover new music from around the world and from your own backyard.

    Take a trip to ’66 Sunset Strip with show host Domenic Priore as Dublab steps into the wayback machine and revisits 1960s Hollywood nightclubs like The Trip, Hullabaloo, Whisky a Go Go and Pandora’s Box.

    Resident Advisor exists to support local scenes and connect the electronic music community. Many of our favourite radio stations, past and present, exist for the same purpose. With those shared values in mind, we are launching a project to further our involvement in, and celebrate, local community radio.

  • 2:00pm – 4:00pm 1/2 OFF – Event Horizon


    1/2 OFF is the musical persona of dublab’s Broadcast Manager/Audio Engineer, Owen Michael Cole. Aside from making music and working within the rap section of the industry, he enjoys skateboarding and long nights.

    His show, Event Horizon is a monthly program with no single direction, but instead an abundance of possible outcomes.

  • 4:00pm – 6:00pm Awesome Tapes From Africa

    Brian Shimkovitz is the person behind one of the most notable music blogs available. Awesome Tapes from Africa—the blog, label, and DJ project— was initially created as a way for Shimkovitz to share the music he had come across while on a Fulbright scholarship in Ghana. He was interested in the variety of genres and artists he found, distributed mainly on cassette tapes at markets, but that he had not come across outside West Africa. Most Awesome Tapes From Africa releases are official re-releases of out-of-print cassettes from African musicians and bands. In addition to the website and his show on dublab, Shimkovitz DJ’s concerts, clubs, and at festivals.

    On his monthly dublab program, Brian Shimkovitz presents live cassette-only DJ sessions of rare Afro-rhythm magnetism. Each themed edition of the program pursues sonic avenues across the continent’s micro- and macro-music, including many styles and genres you might not have heard yet.     Monday evenings, Friendly Futures Radio floats and fills the dublab skies with Los Angeles musical enthusiasm with particular hip-hop diligence, new age headiness and certainly Silky sentimentality. Cornering and covering all of the communities within the community, future roots on full. All in transcribing details within the history. We love the history!

    Aaron Paar takes you on a journey through the depths of the Underground Music experience with Music spanning the spectrum of Soul & Beyond.

  • 10:00pm – 11:59pm Uio Loi – guest session

    Uio Loi’s cold, meditative songs blur the lines between experimental ambient music, hip-hop, and 90s-era video game soundtracks. His songs reflect on the quiet familiarity of life simulation games and melodies evocative of a dystopian society of the distant future. Fresh off the release of his new album “Template” on UK label Videogamemusic and the soundtrack production for Bloomberg’s game “American Mall”, he’ll be presenting a set of original music and an hour long DJ mix.”
