Luxxury – Good Morning, Disco!
Blake Robin is excited to return to the airwaves for the first time since high school when he ran the 2-6am slot at SF’s legendary 90.3FM KUSF. Expect the same blend of disco and funk with drips and drops of pop that he employs in both his original music as LUXXURY as well as his lauded/controversial series of LUXXURY Edits. How can pleasure be guilty when it feels so right?

Frosty w/ guests Producciones con Sal – Celsius Drop: Panama in 45's special
Here it is, highly honed and happening for YOU. On his weekly Celsius Drop show, dublab co-founder Frosty guides you through an exploration of the vast Future Roots music spectrum. Tune-in to grasp your destiny.
This week on Celsius Drop…
Discos Tamayo, Istmeños, Taboga, Padisco, and Loyola Records… all Panamanian record labels that put out the best music its people had to offer in the late 60’s. Now these labels are far gone and 45s are the last remaining evidence of a once booming culture. Today, most of Panama City’s music stores only sell international cds, dvds or blu rays. The hunt for unbroken and playable 45s has been difficult but our persistence has taken us on a journey.

Jimmy Tamborello – Dying Songs
“Dying Songs” focuses on melancholic electronic music but isn’t limited to that. Sometimes it gets dark, sometimes I try to mix techno awkwardly, sometimes i get nostalgic… I like stuff that’s dreamy, ghostly, pretty and sad. I’ll try out new productions of my own, as well. I’m keeping it pretty open and we’ll see how it evolves.” – Jimmy Tamborello

George Jensen – Jocund
Jocund is an outlet for George Jensen. George Jensen is an artist based in Los Angeles, CA. His field recording work is captured and performed in quadraphonic, most recently at Dallas Ambient Music Night (DAMN) in October 2015, where he debuted Field Recordings at Partington Cove. As part of the new age duo Sneaky Snake, Jensen participated in Knowledges at Mount Wilson Observatory, performing a 3-hour quadraphonic piece during a public viewing of Saturn through the 60-ft telescope. During Dublab’s Tonalism in August 2014, Jensen and his musical collaborator Tim Phillips performed a sunrise quad set as Phillips & Jensen, and Phillips & Jensen’s cassette Patra was recently released through Austin’s Holodeck Records. Jensen has experimented with his own Line 6 sound system at private events in Highland Park, and performed Field Recordings At Partington Cove with Wind Chime at Tonalism 2015.

Induce – Dancing, Thinking Loving, Listening "OST"
Whenever I create one of these soundtracks, especially for a movie that doesn’t exist, I inevitably conjure huge chunks of what my vision of the movie would be, always inspired by what is happening in the music. It’s actually a dream of mine that one day, I will pitch a movie solely on the soundtrack, with the script, major plot points and pacing drawing from the songs I’ve put together.
With that said, this month’s OST doesn’t so much reimagine the soundtrack to Miami Vice, but creates the feel for a Miami Vice story we have yet to hear. With the vibe living somewhere between the movie and the tv show, my version serves up both the 80’s inspired synth heavy music as well as the darker, more dramatic tones of the movie. Actually, in my mind, my soundtrack picks up a short time after the 2006 movie leaves off, with Crockett once again alone. Forever lost in love, Crockett finds himself surrounded only by the memories of a past lover lost in the ether. Tubbs on the other hand is trying to make sense of his intense feelings and instant connection to a new woman who unexpectedly entered his life, while trying to be faithful to Trudy, who is still dealing with the trauma of what happened to her in the last movie.
While still laying low, Crockett & Tubbs find themselves mysteriously contacted by their boss to go deep cover to find the source of a leak, and end up in the middle of an interagency task force of undercover agents all infiltrating the same criminal enterprise, yet aren’t aware of the other agents within the organization. It’s up to Crockett & Tubbs to find out which of the agents have gone rogue, leading to a dangerous and deadly situation.
And with the last song in the mix, we even have a nod to one of my favorite episodes of Miami Vice! See if you remember the episode!
