A slick midsummer set from DJ Nu-Mark at the top of his game. In the wake of J5’s classic Power in Numbers around the time of his 2004 mixes Blend Crafters Volume One and Hands On, Mark Potsic aka DJ Nu-Mark brought a hot stack of wax by dublab to cool us all down.
Spinning funk, soul and hip-hop as we’d expect from one of LA’s top turntablists, Nu-Mark delivers some seriously chill BBQ vibes on a mix that’s perfectly paired with the outdoor heat of a So Cal cookout. Smooth and subtle transitions and plenty of turntable tactics help perfect this short, sweet performance.
Tracklist includes (among plenty of other cuts) Eddy Senay’s “Reverend Lowdown,” Bo Diddley’s “Go For Broke,” Quantic Soul Orchestra’s “Raw Ingredients” and rap tracks like Showbiz & A.G.’s “Fat Pockets” and Murs and 9th Wonders’s “3:16.”
FROM THE VAULTS is an ongoing curation project produced by Ben Sinclair, resurfacing rare live performances and DJ sets recorded during dublab’s first ten years.
