Live dublab Mix

05.16.00

When Strictly Kev visited dublab in 2000, his Kaleidoscope LP was fresh in our ears. By 1995 or so the original DJ Food collaboration including the guys from Coldcut had come down to virtually (strictly) Strictly Kev, along with the occasional guest. In May of 2000, Strictly, Ninja Tune’s warlock of wax, was in LA on tour riding the crest of turntablism’s late-‘90s wave. His live mixing skills on the dublab decks are nothing to sneeze at, fitting in selections like The Third Wave’s cover of “Eleanor Rigby” in between old-school hip-hop cuts. The set offers plenty of scratches, juggles and breaks.

FROM THE VAULTS is an ongoing curation project produced by Ben Sinclair, resurfacing rare live performances and DJ sets recorded during dublab’s first ten years.
