On April 4th, Roland, Poobah Records and dublab are partnering with the family of Ras G to celebrate his life, music and legacy. As one of the most influential artists from the past years, Ras G created a sound and universe in itself, hailing from Leimert Park, his music went on to define the sound of Los Angeles and beyond with the use of Roland SP samplers and vast library of sounds, effects, beat, rhythms that influenced friends and fellow musicians such as Flying Lotus, Thundercat, and Linafornia just to name a few.

From his early beginnings as a dublab resident DJ, to his releases on Poobah Records, and Leaving Records, Ras G continues to be an important part of this community. With his passing in 2019, his work has only become more influential and the sound he crafted with his Roland SP-404 gave countless producers around the world endless inspiration.

Today we continue to expand on the legacy of Ras G with a customized Roland SP-404MKII and a clothing line celebrating his life. This Custom clothing from Roland Lifestyle will be released on April 4, 2023, (4/04) or as we would like to call it “Ras G Day” and will be available for purchase at Poobah Records.

The customized Roland SP-404MKII will feature custom “skins” with artwork by artists Teebs. The clothing line includes artwork inspired by his past releases on Poobah Records. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of these products will go back to the community of Leimert Park, and will fund music education programs for children in partnership with Pullum Center.
