Melissa Vogley Woods (she/her) is a Columbus, Ohio-based multidisciplinary visual artist, professor, artist-curator, and occasional musician whose work fluctuates between painting, sculpture, and performative video and veers between anthropomorphic and abstract. Her current work focuses on touchable bas-relief sculptural paintings using a baroque process called Scagliola, in which she explores the breadth between human/botanical worlds with a focus on matrilineal space, healing mythologies, and the domestic. Recent curatorial work includes Spring Break LA 2023 and ‘Lobby,’ a year-long exhibition series featuring two-person exhibitions held inside a Planned Parenthood clinic in Columbus.
