M. Geddes Gengras is an experimental musician from East Los Angeles. His music is centered around the open system of modular synthesis, and his career likewise has been a string of sometimes unlikely connections, working with artists such as The Congos, Akron/Family, and Sun Araw, but in all avenues the common thread is a devotion to total sonic expansion of consciousness. Gengras co-runs Duppy Gun Productions with Sun Araw’s Cameron Stallones, a label that releases modernist dancehall tracks pairing Jamaican vocalists and a crew of L.A. based producers, including fellow labrats Butchy Fuego, Matthewdavid, and Aaron Coyes, and plays roots, dub, and dancehall records as DJ Chardi.
