Photographer, filmmaker and professor Brian “B+” Cross was born and raised in Limerick, Ireland and moved to Los Angeles in 1990 to study photography at CalArts . He published his first book Not about a Salary: Rap Race and Resistance in Los Angeles in 1993. He has photographed album covers for DJ Shadow, Damian Marley and Q-Tip amongst others. He as the photo editor for Rap Pages magazine from 1993-1997 and filmed music videos for DJ Shadow, Control Machete and Chicano Batman. He directed the films Keepintime: Talking Drums and Whispering Vinyl, The Keepintime concert film and the follow up Brasilian time. B+ still lives in LA, answers his own phone, photo edits, still digs like crazy and DJs from time to time and recently released a new book of photographs titled Ghost Notes.
