From streets to tea parlors, music and sounds make up a transitory texture in the rich sensory tapestry of urban Taiwan. Sound ethnographer and artist Umi Hsu will be playing a collection of analog dance tunes, sad songs about migration, didactic folk song-poems, medicine shows, and sonic odds and ends from tapes, FM radio, vinyl records, and handheld mp3 boomboxes found at outdoor markets and small record stores in Taipei.
