Sonic Journeys: The Marloes Part 2
03.08.25

Part 2 of Thee Marloes series features a mix sent in by the Surabayan musicians, featuring a smooth blend of psychedelic soul, jazz, funk, rare grooves, and cinematic instrumentals. It accompanies the interview that dublab volunteer and friend Nathan Pratt conducted with the group on his trip to Indonesia.
Thee Marloes are a soul group from Surabaya, Indonesia, consisting of Raka (guitar), Natassya (keys and vocals) and Tommy (drums). In 2024, Thee Marloes released their fantastic debut album, Perak, with the support of Big Crown Records. What began as a pandemic project evolved into the sweet, soulful Indonesian sound that defines Thee Marloes today. Initially planning to interview the band over Zoom, Nathan decided to take a leap and travel to Surabaya in person, immersing himself in their history, music, and culture.
Nathan joined dublab as a volunteer in March 2024, seeking opportunities to make an impact within the music community and support organizations with missions he aligns with. It’s been one of the best decisions he’s made in recent memory, and he deeply values the organization and the incredible people in it.
