The Quarantine Tapes: A week-day program from Onassis LA and dublab. Hosted by Paul Holdengräber, the series chronicles shifting paradigms in the age of social distancing. Each day, Paul Holdengräber calls a guest for a brief discussion about how they are experiencing the global pandemic.
About Episode 011:
“It’s a different way of being a doctor – where fear is pervasive.”
Critical care physician Daniela Lamas takes a call with Paul discussing the new dynamics of care giving during the COVID-19 era and real accounts from the frontline. How does one prepare for the unprecedented? We explore the unforeseen challenges, and the isolating effects of quarantine between patient and caregiver. As well as the notable effect of family and loved ones now not being able to physically be there for their loved ones during this time. Daniela also gives thought on what she hopes will change within the medical profession to better prepare for a pandemic of this size.
Daniela Lamas is a critical care physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Daniela (whose work goes beyond the ICU unit), looks at the long term outcomes and repercussions of patients who survive critical illness and whether they develop “post intensive care syndrome” (anxiety, depression, cognitive dysfunction, and post- traumatic stress).
