Hailing from the Bay Area, Rich came up in the NorCal punk scnene of the early 90’s. Coming of age at such venues as 924 Gilman and the Phoenix Theater, Rich immersed himself in as much music as he could find. Also, having begun playing saxophone at a young age, he found himself learning of the music of Parliament/Funkadelic, Fela Kuti, and and John Coltrane. This broad love of nearly anything and everything allowed him to move seamlessly through many different musical circles. Furthermore, his love of collecting rare punk records, put him on the path of perpetual brokenness, always spending whatever money he had on records. Then on a faithful night in 1993 everything changed. Some highschool friends of his stole him away to a remote beach near Santa Cruz where a ragtag group of Brits had setup a Turbosound system and were playing records to an enormous throng of people on the beach. Unbeknownst to Rich at the time, he was participating in one of the Wicked full moon parties. With a little help of some chemical enhancements, Rich was immediately hooked. Not long after, he did what many young upstarts did, bought some turntables and a mixer and began immersing himself in all thing dancefloor. Many years and many parties later, Rich has landed in Southern California where he spends his time teaching elementary school and hosting the hi-fi dance parties known as the Sound of Make Believe with his three partners Dewey, John, and Nicolas. Rich still spends all his money on records and still holds true to the love of all things musical.
