dublab presents the Sounds of Now

Voyage with dublab into new worlds. Each week we present a long-form field recording that will transport you through the power of sound.

This week we’ll share underwater recordings of an accretion experiment; the growth of the bio-rock shell on Lauren Bon’s galvanized steel sculpture of a life-sized blue whale heart submerged in 22,000 gallons of water from the Salton Sea. It was subjected to a solar-power driven electrical charge that releases oxygen and sequesters carbon, clarifying the water. You’ll also hear Metabolic Sonics jamming the closing night of Desert X.

Tune-in, open up, and venture out there as we take excursions into evocative audio fields together.
