Out There ~ a Field Recording Program

11.28.24

Voyage with dublab into new worlds. Each week we present a long-form field recording that will transport you through the power of sound.

Over the course of several days, amidst forest fires burning nearby and roads closed due to high winds, the Tibetan monks of the Gaden Shartse Monastery created and dissolved a sacred sand mandala. Each grain of sand, carefully placed, became a prayer of healing and renewal in the face of impermanence.

The sands were an offering to Owens Dry Lake, a site of ecological fragility, as a symbolic offering. Their intention: the healing of the waters and the restoration of balance to this parched and scarred land. May the winds carry these blessings far.

Tune-in, open up, and venture out there as we take excursions into evocative audio fields together.
