Pollensource and Cron - guest session

Our guest this month is Xtina, a cyclist and psychotherapist in Los Angeles, who prepared “rent strike perreo”, a mix of Neoperreo music. Neoperreo is a more inclusive subgenre of Reggaeton that she got into during the height of the lockdown, when she and her neighbors organized a rent strike with the support of the LA Tenants Union. As you’ll hear in her first half, dancing around her apartment (on Zoom parties) was a way for her to let it all out. We follow up her hour of music with tunes that we like to dance to in our apartment alone, when we feel like we need to let loose!

Every month, In A Mood delves into the foundational inclusivity of music by inviting new guests who don’t consider themselves to be DJs in the traditional sense, to showcase their own unique relationship with music. For the first half of a two hour long program, that will span multiple genres, each guest will have complete control over the music selection built around a central mood, concept or theme, providing a bit of spontaneity, originality and authenticity to a sometimes limited pool of selectors. In the second half, Nikole Guzmán and Michael Moeser create their own mix that encapsulates their interpretation of the same central idea.
