On the heels of the the 50th Anniversary of Silver Apples of the Moon (1967), Morton Subotnick came to LA to perform two celebratory shows at Calarts’ Redcat theatre. Each show consisted of a full performance of his classic LP followed by an incredible new composition ‘Crowds and Power’ with vocals by Joan La Barbara. We sat down with Subotnick at Dublab to talk about his current performance practice and the history behind his groundbreaking compositional approach.
