Spend an hour with Mamabear as we dive into the offerings of Star Creature Records, Chicago’s premier independent label. She met the founder, Tim Zawada at a Brickhouse BBQ many moons ago, when she moved to Chicago in 2011. He introduced her to heavy hitters like DJ Kool Hersh, Shazam Bangles, Rude One, Mark Grusane and more. Living in Chicago, a City thick with dance music history was an absolute privilege, and meeting people like Tim, who founded Star Creature Records left a crater of an impact on her taste and selections as DJ Mamabear.
