Allen “The Ambassador” Thayer is a globally-minded music journalist and DJ with a passion for jazz, soul, and funk expressions across the African diaspora, Brasil especialmente. Allen has written extensively for Wax Poetics magazine (including nearly all of Brazilian content) as well as contributed to The Fader and written liner-notes for releases on BBE (UK), Light In the Attic, Luaka Bop and Jazz Is Dead. Most recently, his first book on the topic of Tim Maia’s storied Racional recordings came out on Bloomsbury’s 33 1/3 imprint.
