Julius Smack is the stage name of Peter Hernández, a musician and performer based in Los Angeles, CA. He creates music and dance performances as Julius Smack, who has taken the shape over time as a sexy prince, a business faun, and a statue awoken from antiquity. His work concerns the traumas and hardships of modern society through the lens of indigenous spirituality and intergenerational memory. He is the founder and director of Practical Records, an independent record label for California’s queer, trans, and POC communities.
