DJJJS - Void Filler

On his weekly Celsius Drop show, dublab co-founder Frosty guides you through an exploration of the vast Future Roots music spectrum.

This special episode of Celsius Drop highlights the history and future of indigenous Ainu music from the Hokkaido region of Japan through the lens of OKI who carries forward the aural traditions of his culture and breaths new life into this heritage through his innovations on the tonkori and fluid sonic experiments. Tonkori in the moonlight is a collection of OKI’s music from 1996-2006 that’s out now on Mais um Disco.

Frosty sat down with OKI in the sublime JACCC James Irvine Japanese Garden for a conversation prior to a live concert by the OKI Dub Ainu Band. This program features highlights from the performance and an offering of Ainu music, including many selections from OKI’s own Chikar Studio label.
