Hannah Rubin and Noelle Armstrong - MELLOW DRAMA

Celsius Drop is an exploration of the vast Future Roots music spectrum hosted by dublab co-founder Frosty. Tune-in to reach those outer realms.

This time, Frosty opens the show with an hour of outer-edge/innervision Japanese music. Then he is joined by special guest Marshall Rendina of Alphabet of Sound for the second hour.

Marshall Rendina is an all-around musician and composer. Born at the center of NYC’s music world and unaware until after college, it seemed to be in his destiny. Initially intending to have a psychology-oriented career, his early experiences were with pioneering art therapists and composer-habilitationists. His interactive multimedia works proved influential in college and led to him being hired to produce design materials and radio shows. He found himself at odds with his noisy contemporaries in the Midwest as a songwriter in his twenties, and gravitated towards California to continue in the tradition of Henry Cowell, John Cage, Lou Harrison, and Terry Riley, composing transcendent music not based on historical narratives with meditation as a central guiding principle. He has never felt a need to belong to any establishment, whether academic, medical, or industrial, with his interests from the onset being of an environmental and visionary spiritual kind. He has recently finished his Melakarta Sonatas, Book I influenced by Indian music, a recording of Korean-Japanese ambient/environmental music, and his Elements, a set of five two-hour pieces for each instrument family.
