On his weekly Celsius Drop show, dublab co-founder Frosty guides you through an exploration of the vast Future Roots music spectrum.

This week Frosty welcomed two stellar music minds onto the show:

10-11am: Sadie Siegel
11am-Noon: Bludwork

About Sadie Siegel:

Sadie Siegel, the music project of Seth Weiner explores voice as an expression of space. The most recent series of studies, Purple, chases after pop structures which alternate between static melodic figures that listeners move through and more linear melodic figures that move by the listener.

Often containing performance and proposal simultaneously, Seth Weiner’s work employs a wide range of media in which he explores the gaps between architectural fiction and social convention to create both actual and imagined spatial environments. Currently based in Vienna, he studied architecture at SCI-Arc in Los Angeles (2010), drawing and painting at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (2005) and sound at the Center for the Creation of Music Iannis Xenakis in Paris (2006). Process-based and collaborative, Weiner has worked with Untitled Collective (co-founded in 2010), Gruppe Uno Wien, and since 2012 has served alongside of Gerhard Schultz as the Co-Artistic Director of Berlin-based Care Of Editions, a conceptual business model in the form of a record label. In 2018, Weiner became the Artistic Director of Palais des Beaux Arts Wien, a nonprofit dedicated to re-instituting an unlikely, museum-like entity in the post-digital age.

For Celsius Drop, Weiner/Siegel will work with different scales of attention in order to unfold sonic spaces for listeners to move through without ever leaving the comfort of an armchair. Patterns that shift between figure and ground, mobile architecture, voices to live within.

About Bludwork:

Long Beach student / soul enthusiast Bludwork feels equal parts loose and lost, vibe-y and vulnerable. Nightmare traces six subtle shades of sunset melancholia through sculpted improvisations of intuitive inner space house, inspired by gospel, southern rap, and rejection. Since starting the project his final year of high school Bludwork has honed his hardware configuration and emotional palette, arriving at a sensual fusion of midnight melody, muted bass, slippery percussion, bold samples, and spare design, ideal for solitude or celebration. For music so rich and reflective it’s apt he credits family as formative, particularly the “beautiful chords that warm my heart from soul and gospel records my dad used to play when I was young.”

His new album Astonisher is out now. Come hear him open it all up on Celsius Drop.
