sodapop - sodapop sounds

Francis Morning is a Mountain West-based sound artist, musician, and composer known for crafting gently textured sonic environments using a simplified palette of musical hardware, including analog tapes and cassettes, field recordings, synths, pedals, pianos, and acoustic and electric guitars. His work embraces imperfection, human quality and touch, and the transient nature of life.

His music began to take shape as simple, personal daybreak rituals with no audience or expectations. Each piece recorded live in single takes, with the original elements eventually discarded or recorded over, as a statement and exercise in impermanence and letting go.

I recently spent a week alone in the desert of southern Utah, secluded and surrounded by towering red rock cliffs and vast cloudless skies. My mornings were spent drinking coffee and meditating outside as the speakers from inside resonated with these tracks – a perfect accompaniment to my joyful solitude. Breathe in, breathe out, let go.
