On Saturday, September 28, 2024, dublab celebrated its quarter centennial at Zebulon. Taking over the beloved Frogtown venue with 25 DJs, a host of live performances, and engaging visual artwork by Alex Pelly, offering a multistage event that showcased the station’s homegrown talent. dublab’s annual anniversary parties also serve as crucial fundraising opportunities, and this year was no exception. Alexandra Lippman aka Xandão is an anthropologist, DJ, and scholar. She has conducted fieldwork in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil since 2008. Her ethnography informs her DJing and vice versa, creating a mode of attention and communication on the dancefloor. In 2010 she founded the Sound Ethnography Project, an experiment in multi-sensory representation.
