eXHIBIT AYe is a monthly sonic gallery hosted by Def Sound and curated by a guest. eXHIBIT AYe is a way of seeing without seeing each other. It’s a gathering of innerviews w/ artists and the music that made them. We explore via musical narration and conversation through sharing stories and songs. Every episode is an exhibition in vulnerability and learning to play time and space as an instrument.
This episode of eXHIBIT AYe is a beautiful conversation with an incredible duo from the DMV April + Vista. April + VISTA – the genre-blending duo made up of composer/singer April George and producer Matthew Thompson – has steadily emerged from D.C. ‘s underground, carefully extracting elements from downtempo, alt-rock, soul and classical to build lush, multi-layered compositions.
Their unique sound has grabbed the attention of notable outlets like The Fader, NPR, and BBC Radio 1Xtra, seen them tour internationally with artists like Little Dragon and Little Simz and earned them an appearance on Berlin-based music platform COLORS STUDIOS. You may have heard their music in Netflix’s Dear White People, HBO’s Emmy award-winning I May Destroy You or most recently in the feature film, Really Love.
Pit Of My Dreams and Live From The Pit are out now on all streaming and at aprilandvista.bandcamp.com.
