Contact Wave: The Source Family
06.05.22
Co-hosted by Chris Kissel and Chuck Soo-Hoo, the twice-monthly dublab program Contact Wave enthusiastically celebrates the best experimental, avant-garde, psychedelic, and off-the-grid music crafted in L.A. and beyond.
This week’s episode features a conversation with Isis Aquarian, member and official archivist of the Brotherhood of the Source, the 1970s new religious movement dedicated to vegetarianism, ecstatic physical and spiritual love, and rock and roll, as well as Jodi Wille, the director of the 2012 documentary The Source Family. Aquarian and Wille discuss their new collaborative effort with co-editor Charlie Kitchings, Family: A Source Family Scrapbook, a book that documents the inner world of the L.A.-based “occult commune,” including striking original photos. A Kickstarter campaign for the book continues though June 7, with a hopeful release date in November.
