Contact Wave: KMRU
10.16.22
Co-hosted by Chris Kissel and Chuck Soo-Hoo, the twice-monthly dublab program Contact Wave enthusiastically celebrates the best experimental, avant-garde, psychedelic, and off-the-grid music crafted in L.A. and beyond.
This week’s show features a conversation with KMRU, the recording name of Kenya-born, Berlin-based composer Joseph Kamaru. Over the last few years, KMRU has gained attention in experimental music circles for his atmospheric ambient recordings, often centered around field recordings presented and manipulated in various ways. Among other things, we spoke with KMRU about his newest release, don’t linger they might see you, the sound of life in Berlin, and his project archiving the work of his famous grandfather, the Kenyan Benga and gospel musician also named Joseph Kamaru.
