This episode is dedicated to the late David Lynch, honoring his everlasting impact on cinema, music, and art.

This freeform episode is a mix of his more experimental works, such as his sound installations and short films, in addition to some of the most iconic songs prominently featured in his soundtracks, Lynch’s original music, pieces of score both by him and Angelo Badalamenti, interviews, documentary clips, recent videos from his David Lynch Theatre youtube channel (including his famed lockdown-era Weather Reports), and some personal favorite scenes from his feature-length films.

in 2020, my friend lionel williams shared w/ me the legend of David Lynch & Bob’s Big Boy, of his torrid affair with chocolate milkshakes (which ended abruptly after he found out, after climbing into one of their dumpsters, that the milkshakes came from a carton of some mysterious chemical-y liquid!) regardless, lionel & i would oft patronize the diner, always showing our waiter a photo of David and asking if they had seen him lately (always a no, or “huh, he looks familiar”)

maybe a lot stranger fan behavior from me (but im unashamed nonetheless), also in 2020, i found out where david lynch lived, and from that point on i started making my pilgrimages to his house as often as i could, sometimes once a month, sometimes once a year, always making it a point to include it as a stop on my personal little guided sightseeing tours i’d give to transplant friends and out-of-towners – the laurel canyon country cafe (being sure to point out where frank zappa’s now burned-down wood cabin once stood, and where pamela des barres once watched as jim morrison answered his front door naked); then the sharon tate house, and of course, right off of mulholland drive, david lynch’s 3-home compound in the hills, one of which is instantly recognizable to any true Lynch fan, but the other 2 both iconic in their own regards: Lynch’s was a pale pink marvel that greeted you as soon as you turned onto his narrow street.

i always crossed my fingers that i’d get a glimpse of him, but that day never came. i once saw a vw bug pull into his driveway, but i was way too much of a pussy to try to wait and see who came out of it. i’d always just drive by, slow down to let whoever was in my passenger seat take a photo if they wish, and continued on my merry way. i’ve always wondered if he ever looked out his window, and called out to his assistant, “hey, that weird girl in the beat-up Civic is driving by again!”

David Lynch lived in the heart of so many of my friendships and relationships, so many people that have entered and exited my life have heard my terrible impression of him and been subjected to my long-running joke that him and Angelo Badalamenti were secret lovers. David is all and David is everything, David is Los Angeles and David is Hell and David is Heaven. I love you
