elevated music moments through motion-picture magic. our collective of directors are filming amazing artists performing live in exciting locations around los angeles.
Busdriver, who is currently celebrating the release of his ninth studio album, Jhelli Beam, has been in the pit of LA’s underground hip hop scene for more than a decade. Rapping since the age of 9, his hyper-self-conscious stylings have been described as “gun gattling”, “hyper-literate” and “dadaist” with “dizzying elocution that would tongue-tie even the fiercest auctioneer”. A long time friend of dublab, Busdriver continues his ongoing collaboration with labrats Daedelus and Nobody on several songs within his new album. This live performance from Busdriver was filmed in his own vehicle as he cruised through his neighborhood, Echo Park. dublab is delighted to share this fresh installment of the VisionVersion film series.
This VisionVersion is the result of pure persistence and good spirits. We spent a day wandering through Downtown Los Angeles with our friend Erlend Oye. After getting kicked out of every location in which we tried to film (go guerilla spirit!) we finally managed to pull some strings and capture Erlend performing beautiful songs in equally gorgeous settings. Enjoy this VisionVersion expertly crafted by the awesome Eric Fensler and dublab VisionVersion crew.
We brought Wham City’s Adventure to the Vintage Arcade Superstore to conjure sounds for the spirits of video games whose days have gone by. His gothic gamer spell worked pixel perfect and all around us 1-Up signs flashed and joysticks were overjoyed.
