Jennifer Juniper Stratford directed this dazzling next-wave video for Rainbow Arabia, in which a mysterious female android wanders the dark streets of Downtown Los Angeles wearing the most incredible hat we’ve ever seen. Stratford transforms this familiar setting into sleek science fiction, with subtly pulsating lights and twisting neon glows surrounded by inky blacks. One of Stratford’s aims in making this video was to re-appropriate the hyper-sexualized gynoids so often represented in science fiction. “I have a hard time believing a female android would be soulless,” says Stratford. “So here she is in futuristic Los Angeles, processing, searching, and refusing to be redundant.”
