Celebrating the bicentennial anniversary of the January 1818 publication of Mary Shelley’s Gothic romantic novel, El Camino College Community Education department, in partnership with the El Camino College Natural Sciences and Humanities divisions, presents the Art of Science/Science of Art: Frankenstein 200 event.

This cross-disciplinary arts and sciences programming event features:

  • Frankenstein-inspired music by dublab DJ Jenny Nono
  • Screening of the 1931 Frankenstein film starring Boris Karloff, “It’s alive!” science maker stations by the El Camino College Chemistry department
  • Live screen printing by Calimucho
  • A Frankenstein 200 art installation room by Regney Godoy Projects, inspired by the Villa Diodati where Shelley wrote Frankenstein during the dark and stormy summer of 1816
  • A talk lead by Shelley scholar Dr. Fuson Wang with special guests Chelsea Henson, Ph.D (El Camino College English Instructor), Stephanie DeLancey (Art Center Environmental Design Instructor), Jim Towns (horror filmmaker), and Teresa P. Palos, Ph.D (El Camino College Biology and Microbiology Instructor
