cells – dublab Session
Tuesday, May 30 2017
02:00 PM - 04:00 PM
Cells came together in 2011 over loose and improvisational jams on electric guitars and drums. Craving new sonic spaces and fewer limitations, they explored beatmaking, computers and synthesizers. Today, cells explores the balance between freedom in ambient music, bodily and cerebral indulgences in electronics, and emotional release and ease in songwriting. They meld the acoustic and the digital to explore possibilities for union between today’s body and mind.
In January of 2017, original cells member Khalil Abul-Haj passed away. His imprint and influence are featured heavily in cells’ work, both directly as sounds he produced and recorded and indirectly in his continued spiritual presence.
Cells is the Los Angeles based duo of Josh Siegel and Mike Moss. Their debut LP is planned for release later in 2017.
